• Hey, I’m switching to using Traktor Pro V2 2.5 from VDJ. I have loaded Traktor and analyzed all my songs in the ‘Track Collection’ Folder, on the right, but now when I go into the folder with my Itunes songs, although they have the bpm next to them in the ‘Track Collection’ folder, they dont have the BPMS next to them in the Itunes folder, also I cannot analyze the songs when I right click on them for some reason??

  When I load the track to the deck, it does show me its BPM, but it wont show me it on the list next to the track still, so when I want to look for songs with similar BPM I cant, because it doesn’t save them.

  Does anybody know how to solve this?

  Traktor and iTunes don’t play ball with each other when it comes to MP3 tags so don’t be surprised if they don’t read each others info (or if they overwrite each other too!)

  Oh I see the problem. Having Avicci – Levels in your playlist isn’t supported by any reputable software…
  Just joking…kind of. Unfortunately as Rob stated above, Traktor and iTunes don’t play too well together but I’m really not sure what the problem is as you could just use the track collection list to find tracks.

  After analysing the tunes in Traktor did you go back in to iTunes and update the tag information? I’m not home ATM but I’ll double check the info when I get there.

  There’s no re-analyse option but you can re-scan your music, this should update the tag information in ITunes.

  The same thing happens to me, remember itunes is noT dj software. Ä° do understand you because i find it annoying that Ä° have to import everything into my traktor collection in order to see the bpm. However Ä° havnt tried this yet but i will analyse everything in Mixed in Key then re-import all my files back into itunes. Ä° will also re-import the files into traktor if Ä° have too. Or as previously stated you can re-scan your music in itunes after you have analysed them in traktor.

  Yes, if you re-scan your itunes collection it will update the tag information with the BPM and any other information you’ve entered. Just reload the music from your hard drive, anytime you update the tag information out side of itunes, say with Traktor,MixedinKey, Beatunes etc that’s all you need to do.

  If your songs have the BMP in your TRACK COLLECTION (in Traktor)
  then simply go back in iTunes software and select the songs and press: COMMAND + i (on a Mac).
  It will automatically add the BMP that was analyzed in Traktor in iTunes.

2. May 01, 2009  Launch Traktor Pro and then select Import Collection again to import the T3 converted collection into Pro. Then you should be good to go, the reason I'm suggesting using the Traktor 3 demo is to convert your Traktor 2.x collection into Traktor 3 format which will import easily into Pro.
3. Point Traktor to the folder where your files are (in the prefs, music folder), check 'import music folders at startup', restart Traktor. It will import all your files, rebuild a collection and start analysis of transient and stripes. 3k files take about 1-2h.

Filters

One of the most useful features of Beatport Pro is the ability to use filters to sort through music collections. Filters can be added and used to quickly search to locate tracks. For me, one of the major drawbacks of digital DJing is that finding records to play is largely an uninspiring task. Start out by downloading Beatport Pro here:

The application is optimized for OS X Mountain Lion (or newer) users. Once the software is installed on your system, sign in using your Beatport username and password.

Import Your Tracks

Rather than importing an entire library, Beatport Pro works best if you import a few tracks at a time. You can do this by clicking: File/Add Files to Collection. Try starting out by importing tracks for one playlist. Beatport Pro doesn't copy the files to a new location; it just points to their original location.

Sync with Beatport

Next, click on one of the tracks in your library to highlight it and then click on 'Sync with Beatport' in the top right hand corner.

Make sure the title is typed correctly at the top of the screen and check the box next to the corresponding track in the Beatport catalog. Place a check mark next to the Metadata option(s) you'd like Beatport Pro to update. I have left 'Artist' and 'Key' unchecked because my files are analyzed with Mixed in Key. The keys of my records are written into the track's title and I prefer to keep the track titles as they appear after Mixed in Key analysis. I also leave the song's key metadata unchecked, as I find the Mixed in Key file naming system to be more accurate.

Editing

Below the track you can click on the pencil to open the editable regions for Genre, Mood, Vocal, Venue and Set Time. Use each of these categories to add information in the track; you can use the categories to quickly search for tracks in Beatport Pro. Once you've tagged the tracks, they're ready to be added to a Playlist. Create a new playlist by clicking on the Playlist tab on the left, then clicking on Add Playlist. Drag multiple tracks into the Playlist from the main Audio Collection.

Exporting

Once you've created your playlists (or a couple of them) you're ready to export the iTunes library file (.xml file) from Beatport Pro. To do this, click on Preferences, then Export. Place a check mark next to the box that says Export library as an iTunes Music Library file and choose the location where the file will be created.

Syncing in Traktor

Open up Traktor and click on the Preferences. Navigate to the File Management and in the Directories category, go to iTunes Music Library and select the .xml file you created with Beatport Pro by clicking on the '..!' box. Once you've selected your new Beatport Pro iTunes library file, close the Preferences. Lastly, refresh your iTunes library by right-clicking on the iTunes icon in Traktor's tree and clicking Refresh. You should see the playlists you created in Beatport Pro show up in Traktor.

If you do need to revert back to your previous iTunes library, simply select this iTunes library file in Traktor's Preferences. (File Management/Directories/iTunes Music Library) and then Refresh the iTunes library in Beatport.
